Back to Campus? I found myself at the University of Rhode Island yesterday speaking to a Communications Class taught by Gail Lowney Alofsin. I hadn't been on campus since pre-pandemic. AND it felt GREAT to be near students. My book "LinkedIn for Personal Branding" is part of the curriculum so I am grateful ❤️ for that! They asked dozens of terrific questions including: ❓ Should I write in the first person for LinkedIn? My Answer: Yes, you want to be more approachable and friendly. ❓ Should I upload my resume? My Answer: This is optional. If you do add it, consider putting it in the Featured section. Also, be sure to remove any confidential information like your home address. ❓ Is it OK to be proactive and reach out to employers? My Answer: Yes, but be sure to do your research first. Identify the companies and be selective. Make sure the company is a good fit for you. ❓ How long did it take to write your book? My Answer: A Really long time.... almost two years! And then I rewrote it to get it up to date. I had a blast with these outstanding students. There's nothing like spending time with college students. What campus have you been to lately? Or do you spend time with students? Please let me know #collegestudents #rhodeisland #linkedin #SandraLong Sandra Long

How fun and rewarding for you to get to speak with the students of this Communications Class at the University of Rhode Island, Sandra Long, and hats off to you that they use your awesome book in their curriculum. I really appreciated that you shared a sampling of the questions they asked and your responses to those questions. In the last month, I've done a LinkedIn training for students at the Denver campus of Flatiron School, which offers a boot camp style of education in such fields as software engineering, cybersecurity, data science and product design. It was blast to help these folks in their 20s to step up their LinkedIn presence. Another rewarding experience I had recently was providing LinkedIn training to students in a GED at a high school near my home in Lakewood, a suburb of Denver.
