HubSpot has just released in Private Beta (for all hubs and tiers) another great product update: Allbound timeline card on record pages This much awaited features offers a calendar visualisation of activities so that users can easily see what has happened on the record in terms of engagement levels. The card separates outbound from inbound interactions to see whether prospects, or customers, are responding to outreach. Users can also drill down and expand each activity to see more details. You can add the allbound timeline card to the record middle column using the page editor: Go to settings > Objects > Record customization > Choose a view > Add cards > Select "Allbound timeline." #hubspotcrm #hubspotsuperadmin

It's done. And it ended on 4/19…? -> BREAKING : Google March 2024 core update rollout is now complete via Barry Schwartz Some thoughts about the completion of the March core update: *How in the world could Google NOT explain it ended a week ago? Seriously, did someone fall asleep at the wheel? *I feel terrible for site owners heavily impacted by the September HCU(X). Not one has recovered and most are down more. Some are down over 95%. Like the screenshot below of a site down 97%. Yes, 97%. *There is no way IMO that the HCU classifier was removed. Or it was, it was replaced by the next generation HCU classifier which is on steroids. Many of those sites impacted in September dropped heavily with the March core update. *Beyond that, there are some very interesting cases based on this core update. I will hopefully be sharing more about that in the coming weeks. There was a ton of movement with this update (outside of HCUX sites). Some massive surges and some huge drops. And across many verticals. *And finally, I can now stop my "Google Morning Google Land!" updates each day. At least for now. :) #google #seo

New GA4 page 🚨 Brais Calvo Vázquez discovered that GA4 is bringing back a taste of the classic Universal Analytics experience with this new real-time report! The ability to see page-level traffic in real time, complete with Active Users and Views metrics, is a great addition for those who missed this functionality from Universal Analytics. While it doesn’t allow for comparisons or additional metrics, it provides an immediate snapshot of user activity, which can be incredibly valuable for monitoring site performance, spotting trends, or reacting to live events. #GA4

SEO's Unrealistic Expectations: Why You (and Clients) Can't Have It All I was scrolling a few freelancer's posts the other day, and I spat my drink out at 2 in particular. The SEOs listed everything they were doing for their clients, and short of solving global poverty, they were fulfilling the role of an entire marketing department. Scope creep is one thing...delivering everything from CRO, PR to web development is another. Of course, there is the element that they could be talking nonsense... There's a lot of that going around with people saying they generate 'Millions' in revenue for clients. (Once they hit publish on their posts, I'm certain they adopt a Dr Evil hand gesture). But for those working their backsides off, here lies a problem that I also ran into many years ago (when I had my own agency). If you do everything at a low cost, you can't grow. When I first launched my own SEO services in 2015, I charged between £270 and £470. Those clients got the earth- SEO, social posts, web dev, blog articles, and newsletters. All I cared about was that I wasn't in the police anymore and that I was earning a living. I learned the hard way that if you offer everything, then you cease to be a specialist. Instead, you become a 'jack of all trades'. Which is fine. You can earn a fantastic living doing just that. It's just that 2 things happen. 1) Your marketing position becomes a race to the bottom. 2) You can't maintain that level of output for long. Today, I'm aware that large agencies are doing the same. Price things low, offer the farm, stack clients high, make money through volume. This leads to the inevitable churn of staff and clients, along with mistakes. While you're trying to be a digital PR...you aren't optimising enough pages. While you're offering CRO advice...you aren't building internal links. While you're...you get the idea. Everything you do that is not in the SEO remit comes at the opportunity cost of your SEO performance. Don't get me wrong, every now and again, you have to go above and beyond. But you can't make this a long-term thing. It's this that leads to agency and freelancer 'feast and famine'. My advice: be an SEO, be a PR, be a web dev, be a CRO specialist, be a tech SEO, be a writer. But above all else...choose. Trying to be and do everything doesn't make you a superhero. In my experience, it rarely leads to a happy life, business model, or client success.

Want to know how your website's content quality stacks up to others? Here's a rough baseline benchmark you can check in GA4. Websites that have invested in high-quality organic content, intentionally structure their on-site experience to meet user needs, and cultivate topical authority have average engagement time per session above 30 seconds and an average engagement time (per user) of at least 50 seconds, if not much higher. These are websites with at least tens of thousands of users per month and at most hundreds of thousands of users, so mid- to high-tier quality traffic, with under 20% of total traffic arriving from paid search and paid social. Caveats: no ecommerce sites included in the analysis, which includes data from around 15 current, former, and prospective content-first websites. Some websites I reviewed are monetized but they're not first-and-foremost stores. Some are lead gen. _Curious about more engagement metrics benchmarks?
