As for the problem I encountered, well the Montech logo on the top of the cooler is a metal plate mounted by 4 hex screws. When I got it out of the box, this was mounted upside down. Wouldn't be a problem, but the screw holes for the mounting mechanism was blocked because it was mounted upside down. Not an issue, unless if you don't have a hex screwdriver which then you wouldn't be able to install your cooler.
Outside of that, the installation process is okay, I guess. It's not as bad as the Dark Rock Pro 4, but not as easy as the Corsair A500 (although that cooler has a bunch of other problems). The screw towards the back of the cooler (on AM4 this would be the IO side of the motherboard) wasn't as well aligned with the hole that's on the cooler, so it was a bit difficult to screw in. The fan clips are also really tight, but there are 4 of them so if you wanted in the future to add another fan, you have the option.
RGB is through a 5V ARGB header, and it syncs with my Aorus X570 okay. It also comes with a SATA connector with a button controller, if you don't have a header available or don't want to wire up the header to the motherboard. It's nice that it's a SATA connector instead of Molex, if you're going that option.
Overall, a decent cooler. Installation isn't the easiest but this is coming from someone used to installing AIOs. The performance is good, the price is okay too, but at this price range there are a lot of options including 240mm AIOs (which I consider a better option if you're moving your computer a lot because a heavier air cooler puts stress on the motherboard), and if you're going lower range the Pure Rock Slim 2 is super cheap and has excellent performance for its price. You are getting decent RGB for the price, and 5V addressable RGB fans are surprisingly pricy, and I do think this is a better looking cooler than the Hyper 212 although that has frequent sales and at the time of this review is only $41 compared to $53. So 4 stars because of the problem out of the box, but otherwise a good air cooler.

Not easy to install
Some notes; one tension screw is hidden by a Phillip's Head screw on top of the tower. The tension springs offer some decent give back, so some force is required for the screws to engage the motherboard bracket that is included. Also, to prevent frustration, once you start one screw and get a couple threads in, start the other side before tightening. I found that I got a good thermal compound spread pattern from a pea sized dot method by alternating the tightening of one screw for a few threads and back to the other for the same treatment until tight. You could be more aggressive with alternative fewer times.
The thermal properties of this remind me of what my Scythe Kabuto II did but this is sturdier and better built. (Side note here, the newer Scythes are made more robustly much like this is.) For a processor that claims a TDP of 65 watts, not to be confused with actual current draw, this would be over kill. Thing is with over kill, you don't have to worry about the thermal roof limits, you can extend the life of your product by keeping it cool, and you can overclock it more. The properties of heatpipes doesn't change much between coolers. They are efficient, and your limit is based on how much heat you can remove from the water vapor inside to allow it to condense and repeat the process. This uses 4 heatpipes in a U shape to double that dissipation of heat. They are not the thickest heatpipes, like what I was seeing on the MSI COREFROZRS but it does perform well, with a large surface area coated in a black paintjob making it look better. Because I tested this on a Ryzen 5 3600, I couldn't push this to any appreciable thermal limits. I never saw over 62c and it idles just about 34-41c range.
The fan on this is inferior to some others. (Noctua and Corsair to name two.) As a direct competitor to the Scythe fans I have seen, this is not the best in longevity, but performs as well and as quietly as the Scythe fans. (Both use a fluid dynamic bearings, with Scythe using a Sealed Fluid Dynamic bearing rated for 120,000 hours while this is 60,000.hours) At least they aren't lying about being a fluid dynamic when others say it and it actually is a hydraulic bearing or they just put a slot into a sleeve style bearing and call it "fluid dynamic."
As for RGB. To start, I am not a fan of RGB, often due to the rainbow puke effect I see often. While this can be effectively the rainbow, I found it functions as a good blue. It is a bit washed out in all the color, not being as vivid as what is on my motherboard, graphics card, or even my UPC. However, behind my tinted glass panel, it isn't as noticeable.
Overall, I think this is a good product and I only just started to see Montech, I was apprehensive when I first learned of them, looking into their fans for my sons PC, though they have done well so far and I am starting to see more people take notice including online reviewers.
