These Homemade Apple Chips are the perfect healthy snack for any time of the day! They’re easy to make and you only need a few ingredients to make them. One of my favorite healthy snacks! (P.S. No dehydrator needed!)
I’m in denial that September is almost over. What the heck? In a way, I’m excited because I love the fall and holiday season but then again, it means that summer is officially over. We’re already knee-deep in school, homework, football practices, piano lessons, swim lessons, etc.
But even though it’s September, it’s still been crazy hot around here. What has your weather been like? One day it’s cool here or cloudy and then the next is like 85 degrees and I’m melting. I’m feeling ready for fall weather. I’m ready for boots, sweaters, pumpkin muffins, hot chocolate, and apple recipes. We love apples around here. I buy several pounds every week just for my boys to snack on or throw into their lunch boxes.
But, apples can get a bit boring. It’s fun to change things up a bit and help my boys out by giving them something new to take in their lunch boxes.
How do you spice apples up? Apple chips!!!
These are amazing. I used to think you needed a dehydrator in order to make fruit chips. Nope!
You just have to slowly cook them in the oven. Hardly any prep and barely any work involved. Oh my word, you guys. When you make these, your house will smell AWESOME. It’s like inviting fall into your home!
Not to mention the sweet and crispy taste of these yummy chips. They have so much flavor packed into each chip, you’ll feel guilty eating them because they taste like dessert. But they’re healthy! The perfect snack to grab on the go, throw into lunch boxes or just to snack on while watching tv.
Hello, fall! Please stay a while! 😉
Ingredients
- 2-3 apples thinly sliced (I used Fuji)
- 4 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- real maple syrup not pancake syrup
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 225º F. Lay out the apple slices on two parchment lined baking sheets.
- Mix together the sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. On one sheet of apples, sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over the tops of the apples. On the other baking sheet of apples, spread the tops with maple syrup. (Can also double cinnamon and sugar and skip maple syrup or use only maple syrup - your preference!) Place both baking sheets in the prepared oven and bake for 1 1/2 hours. Flip apples over and continue baking for 1 more hour, until the apples are crispy. Let cool and store in an airtight container. Enjoy!

Oh! I also had no idea that it’s so easy to make them in the oven!
Hi Jen! Can I bake in smaller individual jars or pans? Also, how long do left overs last in the fridge?
Hi Jessica! You can definitely half the recipe and just use one pan! I put leftovers in a large plastic bag and kept in my pantry. Not sure how long the leftovers last because my kids love them so they really don’t last long at my house!
Enjoy your recipes!
