A new friend from the NSA (National Speakers Association) just got hacked on LinkedIn. UGH. She sent me an email and this is the advice I gave her to AVOID this scenario in the future. ✅ Change your LinkedIn password periodically ✅ Don’t use the same password across multiple platforms ✅ Opt for Two-factor authentication ✅ Don’t accept everyone as a connection ✅ Avoid clicking on a link from someone in a LinkedIn message that you don’t know ✅ Put ANY link through a "smell test" including job postings, etc. What can you add to this list? ALSO....... Have you ever been hacked on LinkedIn Facebook Instagram. Twitter Pinterest YouTube Google ? #linkedin #security #hacked
So sorry to hear this. I never use the same password for more than one site. Always use 2FA if that’s an option. You have to be very careful these days. Always be on your guard. This is a most unfortunate thing in our life today.
All of your checkmarks are spot on! I received one of those messages this am and it did not check out. Happening more and more with bots doing the legwork. Be very skeptical!
I've not been hacked here, Sandra, but I did lose my Facebook account last year. And with it went all my images. I was gutted. But not as gutted as I'd be if the same thing happened here!
Thanks for the alert that this could happen as well as the tips to prevent it Sandra Long!
i once had the same problem like this but i was able to get into my account with the help of bulberryhackers on instagram. He will help you get your account back and he is a trustworthy person.
Terrific recommendations, Sandra! One idea to try when someone requests a connection is to message them through LinkedIn and ask what prompted them to reach out to you. Their response can be helpful in deciding whether to connect with them or not. One thing to keep in mind that even if a number of people you know have connected with someone sending you the invite to connect, that doesn't mean the person sending the invite is legit. I've been hacked on Instagram.
I'm new here hoping i can be taught how to move around.
Wow

10moThanks! LOL on the smell test. I know what mine is; I'm wondering what yours is :) Mine is to check their profile (how recent, mutual connections). Google them. I'm curious too about the don't accept everyone. I'm overwhelmed with people offering me services and thinking not to accept them now. YES, Two-factor authentication helps a lot.
