Deaf History Month

DCMP has several accessible videos to teach Deaf history to all grade levels. We also have even more videos with added American Sign Language interpretation and a new page where you can easily find all videos with our ASL pop-up. But first, we take a moment to remember disability rights activist Judy Heumann.
Judy Heumann, a woman with glasses and short hair, sits in a wheel chair while speaking at an event outdoors.

In Memory of Judy Heumann

In March we lost the "Mother of the Disability Rights Movement," Judy Heumann. She was the leader in mainstreaming disability rights, not only in the U.S.A. but internationally. Under the Clinton Administration, Judy served as the Assistant Secretary for the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS) in the Department of Education. She is featured in the documentary Crip Camp, produced by the Obamas. Her work and influence impacted the lives of countless people and made her a respected and beloved civil rights leader who will be missed.
