How to get a customer from your newsletter content today

Want more clients from your content? I'll show you how.

A simple way to get a customer from your newsletter content today: 1. Go look at the stats from a recent issue you published that includes a link to a piece of content on a topic related to your product/service. For example: My service is I help businesses get customers from their content. In a recent issue of my newsletter, I shared a link to an article about “How To Approach Your Dream Customers.” (It was a curated article - I didn’t even write it myself and it certainly wasn’t self promotional.) It’s safe to assume anyone who clicks that link is at least somewhat interested in getting new customers. They want something my service can help them accomplish, so… 2. Look at the email addresses of your subscribers who clicked that link. You now have a list of leads interested in the result you offer. 3. Email each of those people individually with a soft pitch for your product/service. You don’t have to specifically say you’re emailing them because they clicked that other link - just frame it as a general outreach to your subscribers. (Even though you know the only ones getting it are the ones likely to be interested in what you have to offer because of the link they clicked.) For example, I could send an email to one of them like this: —- Hi Tom! I wanted to send you a quick note for two reasons: • To say thanks for your interest in my newsletter - I hope you’re finding it helpful. • To let you know I’m offering some free custom advice to subscribers who want to get more customers from their content. If you’d like me to send you a couple suggestions, just reply to this email and let me know who your target customer is and where I can check out the content you publish. Happy to answer any other questions you may have as well! —- 4. When people reply to that individual email outreach (and several will), reply to them with a couple simple, helpful suggestions. This will have started a conversation and turned a cold lead into a warm lead. And more importantly… Will get you a customer from your content. Any questions?

Remember: People will tell you EXACTLY what they want… If you give them the opportunity to do so.

That's a very easy method to follow.. In fact, it is one of the low hanging fruits that we can immediately act upon. I have been segmenting the readers who click on some of those links and then adding them to a sequence that promotes something that I have to offer. It is just another variant of the same newsletter but with additional snippets that are focused on that particular audience. It involves some duplication of work, primarily because I have to duplicate the newsletter and then add the snippet and send it out. But this method you suggested seems straightforward.. I will definitely try this out. Josh!

Have you read Influence by Cialdini? When someone gives you a gift (in your case, free suggestions), people typically want to reciprocate and become more open to a purchase. I’ve never heard the term warm lead but that captures it.
