Make sure you know who you're hiring... I came across this post on Reddit over the weekend and my heart sank. There are a lot of amazing fractional people out there with the skills and experience to help your business, but there are also a lot of "consultants" or "fractional XYZs" who will do more harm than good. Always ask for references/case studies/testimonials. Check out their LinkedIn and make sure they have the experience they are claiming. Insist on a 1-month break clause so you can walk away quickly if they are not a fit. Have a chemistry session between them and your internal team before making a decision (and trust your team if they say something is off)

I'm grateful for that referral. The time spent on "LinkedIn Easy Apply" would have been better spent networking with some cool people that could help align me in the best role possible with a kick-ass referral instead of throwing pickles at a window. I get it though, I feel like if I'm not applying to roles I'm not getting anywhere, but I feel way better if I meet someone new who says hey, I can help or I know someone who can help. You're not getting replies from Recruiters because👇👇 ✔ You're still saying just "Hi" "Hello" "How are you?" ✔ You are not providing them full context in your messages. ✔Your message seems generic copy-paste type. ✔ You seem like initiating a small unnecessary talk. ✔Your message is too long to check in their busy schedule. ✔ You sound quite rude (though you don't mean to) ✔ You're being impatient. Tips you can follow to get replies 💯💯 📍 Start with introducing yourself 📍 Provide your reason of reaching out and link of your work incase you need help i.e. GitHub , LeetCode , YouTube , LinkedIn , etc. 📍 Mark it in calender & follow up after atleast 3-4 days with a gentle message, if you don't receive any response till then 📍 Don't initiate unnecessary talk, be precise & to the point. This interview is simply hysterical 🤪. At one stage in the interview she even talks about "Tweets", which just goes to show how incredibly powerful the old brand works. She's talking delusional junk, but at least we have clarity now: she'll just say any old thing. And the video calls, presumably tied to your handle? One can already think of tons of ways for that to go wrong. How do you decide who's allowed to call you? Anyone? Any follower? Only selected people? It will surely be a boon to the pornspambots, but not sure the rest of us are that keen: we have enough video call avenues already. https://lnkd.in/gHScxv7a

Last week, I applied for a job I'd very much like to land. Today, I received an email from the company, with the subject simply being their name. "Uh oh," I thought, "probably another rejection." Thankfully, I was wrong. Less thankfully, nor was it a "let's chat." Rather, it relayed an almost-as-welcome sentiment I'm seeing for the first time after 100+ applications -- basically an "I just wanted to let you know you'll hear from us in the next two weeks, and we love that you applied." There's a real person's name attached to the email, even -- and it's from a major game developer you've almost certainly heard of. How...nice. I now have an even more positive view of this company than I already did. Through this simple action, in the statistically likely event a form-letter rejection eventually does land in my inbox, I might actually feel some sincerity through language like "unfortunately" and "after careful consideration." I understand why companies don't generally send out updates like this one -- but they totally should. It's good PR through HR. And that is incredibly rare.

Venturing onto LinkedIn for talent was a first for us, but it backfired. The platform ended up sabotaging both candidates and our hiring process. The experience turned sour, fast! The response rate was through the roof, but it seems like folks are hitting 'apply' before even peeking at what they're signing up for. Quantity over quality strikes first! Some of the platform's filtering questions hit the mark, but they leave candidates scratching their heads. It was straightforward until LinkedIn turned the answers into a tangled mess! Result? The unread get spotlighted, while the qualified face rejection. Hey, we're just getting warmed up... Now, the hijack! People are flooding in with applications, and we're diligently responding to each one—whether it's to express gratitude or to proceed with potential candidates. But then, out of the blue: 'Sorry, folks, there's a cap for the free version of this service! Your job offer is about to disappear into oblivion.' What??? And it did!!! Locked out of past applicants unless we cough up cash — now we're stuck looking like the bad guys with dozens of applicants that will never hear from us! If that's you: Sorry. Not our fault. Just my 2 cents but... Don't use the "canned" responses in LinkedIn. Create your own message if you are interested in a position with a company or if you are responding to a message from a company about an open position. Using the canned "I would like to learn more about this opportunity" response may not be sufficient, especially if there were specific questions in their message to you. Stand out from the crowd and actually put some effort into your response. I'm sure I'm going to get blasted with the "I'm applying to 100's of positions, so I need to take shortcuts where I can." I get it. Looking for work is tough. But as people in talent acquisition/recruiting we have 1000's of applicants or more that we have to review so make yourself stand out by actually sending a genuine response. FYI... If I asked you questions in my message to you and you send me a generic response that did NOT address those questions. I won't respond to you until you answer those questions.

If you're posting on LinkedIn with: "I've got a role open, dm me for more information" And that is the entire post. I have a question for you. If you're getting flooded with messages and connection requests from people inquiring without getting any context or information in detail about the role, how are you managing those conversations and ensuring you're following up with everyone? Are you picking and choosing who to respond to? At what point do you send the actual job description? Curious question because I genuinely want to learn the method to the madness.
