Do you ❤️ networking at events? I find that I meet so many amazing 🎉 people at conferences, tradeshows, meetups, and industry events. I am convinced...........LinkedIn is THE best resource to help supercharge our events. Here are five ideas of things you can do on LinkedIn BEFORE you ever leave town. ✅ Connect with sponsors, speakers, attendees, and organizers - send a friendly invitation on LinkedIn. Do this after doing some basic research so your note to them is relevant and about them (not you) ✅ Find the event hashtag #️⃣ and start engaging with content. Connect with some of the people you see on the feed. ✅ Update your LinkedIn profile specifically for the event. Maybe it's your About essay or your featured section or banner that can be focused around the event. ✅ Create a post, article, or video about what you are looking forward to learning OR who you hope to meet at the program. Ask your connections if they are attending. ✅ Send a friendly message via LinkedIn to your first-level connections who you think are attending. Ask them to stop by your booth or to meet up for coffee ☕️ or a beer. What can you add to this list? And what do YOU do before attending an event on LinkedIn? #linkedin #events ------------------------------------------------------ Sandra Long Post Road Consulting: LinkedIn and Social Selling Training

Great advice Sandra Long! So often I, and I believe others, only concentrate on the event, not on all the advantages the event provides. These are really good ideas I’m going to begin to employ.  To your question. I don’t currently use any of the items that you listed in you post, but I will next time.

Thanks for these valuable suggestions, Sandra! As an extreme introvert, I absolutely dread and avoid networking events whenever possible. However, if/when I am somehow able to force myself to go to one, I do try to find out in advance who else will be there, and research and Link In with attendees in advance, accompanied by a "looking forward to meeting you" note. I've found that this helps to ease the introductory conversation by knowing something about them in advance -- and vice-versa. (Btw, as with many of my fellow introverts, we are much more comfortable when we are presenting at a conference than when we are just attending!)

I fully agree with this, Sandra. I specifically look to connect with those who are active on LinkedIn. The folks that I meet in person who say they 'delete all of their LinkedIn requests' are doing themselves a disservice by not using this network to the full. Community is everywhere, start building yours!

It is helpful to look at the profiles of other attendees, speakers, etc. in advance to see if there are any connections and/or interests in common. That way when you do meet them in person, you have something interesting to talk with them about. Thanks for the ideas Sandra Long

Thank you Sandra Long with these great tips. I agree 💯 LinkedIn supercharges event experiences! It was so fun at the last trade show event I spoke at when I was able to meet & hug people I have connected with through LinkedIn. 🌟I sent personal messages to a handful of people I really wanted to meet in person and we planned meetups. It’s really changed the way people can connect, share and support each other! In addition to grabbing coffee or a drink you could take a break from the show floor and go for a walk & talk 🙌
