This completely changed how I see my year. And it helped me plan 2024. In one of Ali Abdaal’s YouTube videos, he shows a spreadsheet view of the year with months across the top and days down the side. I decided to map out my 2024 using this format. And I love it 😍 Not only did I schedule breaks, I added any known events, conferences, and presentations. Seeing the year-at-a-glance on this one page is far more helpful for planning my business initiatives than scrolling month-by-month in a traditional calendar format. But there’s more. Once the commitments and breaks are accounted for, it becomes much clearer how much time is actually available for projects. Confronting constraints guides intentional decision-making: — what priority rises to the top? — when should I say yes? — when should I say no? (emphasis on the last one…) If you haven’t tried this, I recommend it. It doesn’t take long to enter holidays, vacations and events. And once you do, you'll see your year in a new light. Love this process.
Thank you! Such a great tool.
Powerful! Thank you for sharing Cat Mulvihill.
This is one of my favourite ways to visualise the year. I wish more calendar/planner apps implemented views like this .
Oh... this is awesome... so much better than trying to build this in Miro :)
Wow, Cat! I can see why it has completely changed how you see your year and helped you plan for 2024. It's amazing how something as simple as visualizing the year at a glance can make such a difference in organizing business initiatives. Thank you for sharing your experience and recommendation. I'm definitely going to give this a try! It's fantastic how quickly holidays, vacations, and events can be entered into the spreadsheet. I'm excited to see my own year in a new light just like you did.
I have always had an Excel-calendar like that for the business year. I use the principle of one page in almost everything I do. If it is important to be able to do an overview, it has to be 1 page. It goes for a calendar year, a business proposal, a manuscript for a presentation, a summary, an outline. Always 1 page!
