Thanks for subscribing to Future-Proof Your Career with AI

Welcome to the Future-Proof you Career with AI newsletter, I'm your sherpa Khe Hy.
I started this newsletter because as a semi-retired ex-finance guy, I had 4 hours to dedicate to learning AI each day.
But many of my peers didn't, so I wanted to summarize everything I learned for you.
You'll get a new issue every Thursday at 9am ET.
In the mean time, here are the tools I'm using each day.
My "Core AI" toolkit
ChatGPT Pro version ($200/month)
I took the plunge on the expensive version to ensure that I was always using the latest features. Right now I'm pumped to try Operator and GPT 4.5, their newest model.
→ OpenAI
Claude Pro ($20/month)
I generally like Anthropic's Claude for anything that requires emotion and a more human touch. Claude is the perfect companion for my coaching work and writing.
Perplexity (Free version)
I haven't done a Google search in 6 months. Since ChatGPT and Claude have "cut off dates" (meaning their models don't get updated beyond a certain date), Perplexity is always scraping the latest web pages for the most timely data. It's great for current events and product reviews. I particularly like the Mac App which lets me do a new search using CMD + Shift + P.
Cursor ($20/month)
I don't know how to code, but write AI-generated code on a daily basis (also known as vibe coding). Cursor not only writes the files but helps you create the dependencies (i.e. link everything together), test and compile (i.e. build) your web apps. I'm using it mostly for web tools (like this Home Ownership Calculator) and I'm working on a networking app.
→ Cursor
Fireflies ($20/month)
Fireflies provides transcription for Zoom calls. The transcripts are clean and I then anonymize them and add them to my various projects on Claude and ChatGPT.
Helper Apps
MidJourney ($10/month)
An image generator that I use for all of my blog art. It has a taste profile that has you swipe on 50 images to determine your preferences. I could probably get away with using the built-in generator in ChatGPT but I love the Midjourney product and experience so much.
WisprFlow ($15/month)
A new addition to my workflow, this is a voice-to-text app that really speeds up the prompting process. Think of it as Siri on steroids — faster, more accurate and context aware. I'm still assessing if the price point is worth it, but it's really powerful. I'm definitely seeing a new workflow emerging for myself that includes voice-to-text and screenshots (with way less typing).
Bear ($3/month)
A simple text editor that I use for markdown (better formatting) and the ease of creating a new note. I tend to write longer prompts, so I like to keep them all in one app.
→ Bear
V0 by Vercel ($20/month)
This is overkill for my needs, but I love what the Vercel team is building. V0 helps you build webapps (i.e. interactive websites) but unlike Cursor, the sites look beautiful and clean. There's a strong focus on design which is lacking in many of the other apps. However, at this price point, I don't see myself keeping the subscription (and I'll use it tactically when I launch new products).
Grok by xAI (Free version)
This is a new add but it's quickly starting to replace perplexity. First, it's blazing fast. But more importantly, it grabs information from tweets making it very up-to-date. Oh, and I'm terminally online!

Build your Own Apps using AI ($499)
This is the course that broke the dam open for me. I was struggling to find use cases for AI until I saw how quickly it could enable a non-technical person like me to build websites, interactive web pages and apps. A creative explosion that ensued, and well, you're looking at what happened next!
