Speaker Friends: Today is Professional Speakers Day which is celebrated 🌎 globally. It got me thinking about the variety of speaking opportunities as well as reasons that we love speaking. Starting with.........What kind of stage do you prefer? Big international stages, local company stages, conference stages, podcast stages, Zoom stages, and everything in between. What do YOU prefer? And a second question.............WHY do you speak? For me, I like the LISTENING part of speaking. For every speaking engagement, I listen and learn from my client. This is how I can personalize each talk. What about you? #PSCD2024 #proudtospeak #professionalspeakerscelebrationday #GlobalSpeakers #globalspeakersfederation
Happy Pro Speakers Day, Sandra Long...and my other speaker friends! I enjoy any stage...which is still surreal to me, as I was totally terrible at, and absolutely terrified of, public speaking until the age of 40. Why do I do it? To practice my "3 E's": Educate, Engage, and Excite! My personal mission is to help make the world a better place...one leader at a time (*and, to me, EVERYONE is a leader in one way or another...even if you are just leading your own life). And presenting enables me to do so at a larger scale than one individual at a time. Thank you for asking, Sandra! 💫
I agree with Heather! Why did I not know this? First, I love any stage. It’s just FUN. The spectrum is in front of 25 middle school kids to a conference of 2,500 people. It just brings me joy! Second. Why? I love spreading the word on Leadership! Leadership Is about influence, not a title. In our homes, our businesses and our social circles, we all have the opportunity to lead. And all of us, every single one of us, has the opportunity to be better leaders. Happy National Speakers Day to one of my favorite speakers - Sandra Long (and old Pitney Bowes buddy!)
Happy Professional Speakers Day to all my fellow speakers out there!
Sandra, I like being in a room full of people and being able to circulate and interact with the audience. I enjoy speaking because I want to share my knowledge, teach others, and learn from the conversation! Happy Speakers Days to all of YOU!
I’m open to most stages. I speak because I want to share things I’ve learned and I’m curious how others manage similar situations. Then we can collaborate on resources!

1yThis post has me THINKING! First- why didn't I know this day was a thing? lol Next- Stages I prefer: ones that simultaneously connect the right content to the audience that needs it (this will look different every time) WHY? I speak because it's a calling. I imagine that sounds stupid. But it's true. I've asked myself this a lot over the last few years and the answer is: I speak because "when you can you must." Meaning that anyone (no matter their speaking prowess) who has a message that must be heard will be called to speak. Walls will be taken down so they can. Inner barriers will crumble to give them space. And the people who need the message will listen....Not sure where this came from but that's my answer. xo
