Alles ansehen- HoA #61: Toyota Kata Coaching f. Agile Teams & Transformations—Fortune BuchholtzLink für Teilnehmer sichtbar
Abstract
Today, we see a slowly accelerating movement in business management towards coaching. Even the Harvard Business Review & McKinsey now acknowledge that coaching is the best approach to manage & grow employees.
And after decades of Agile, we also have a strong history of understanding that coaching is the preferred method of engagement at all organizational levels. There's a wide variety of coaching options used in Agile today: GROW, OSKAR, ACL, STEPPA, etc.
Let's add to the list a technique from Toyota, whose attitudes and methods are in many ways embedded in our Agile practices. It's called Toyota Kata Coaching. And please don't be fooled by its deceptive simplicity. I think it's the best coaching method for Agile. Join this webinar to learn about Kata & see if you agree. Even if you don't, think about the Kata as another coaching tool for your Scrum Master or Agile Coaching collection.
Meet Fortune:
(a) Is that Really Your Name?
Yes. Let me tell you a story: hippie parents with poor taste in classical music & an unfortunate infatuation with Carl Orff's Carmina Burana. It's really that simple.
Around my house, you're more likely to hear Dexter Gordon & Brian Eno. But here I am: Fortune, the Empress of the World. Pleased to meet you.
If you enjoy the Carmina Burana, be sure to listen to the other 2 pieces in Orff's NSFW Trionfi, the Catulli Carmina & the Trionfo di Afrodite, both influenced by Stravinsky.(B) When Did You Drink the Agile Kool-Aid?
I was working as a front-end dev & PRINCE 2 project monster when I was ensnared by Jeff Sutherland's dangerous brew in 2005. I became a Scrum Master on Wall Street in 2006. At Cisco in 2009, I was enraptured by the Toyota Production System. And we've been a throuple ever since.
My LinkedIn will show you I've worked in a variety of industries and Agile roles, primarily in Silicon Valley & Big Tech. Currently I remain a certified Scrum Master, Product Owner & Agile Coach, altho' recently I was dubbed a most dangerous ¡Kanbanista! Please don't turn me in, k thnx.
My husband & I now live in Nottingham, England—Robin Hood, the Sheriff, Maid Marian, Sherwood Forest—it's all real, I tell you. Real!

- Maximizing features,
- Increasing velocity,
- Meeting deadlines,
- Pleasing stakeholders.
The above reflects the old ways. The more you face that, the quicker you become a backlog manager.
Let's talk about the challenges of being a product manager and how to move from managing the backlog to driving value.
You can expect provoking thoughts, actionable insights, and a bit of unconventional product management.
