- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2021You, oh wise one, are probably already living in Merida and driving around those crazy glorietas like a pro since Cassie told you exactly how to move here in her first book. Yeah, now she’s written another fantastic guide to help de-mystify the secret hiding places of the Yucatan for you and your kids. You might be tempted to think this one isn’t for you because you aren’t a parent to human children.* It’s true, yeah, if you do have kids, owning this book is a must. It’s a life-raft that will save you from the erstwhile parental- insanity that comes with traveling with our little demanding adventure-seeking beasts. BUT, I’m telling you this honestly - it’s filled with valuable insider-information for everyone looking for a path into the heart of the Yucatan. This book will give you an unmatched resource to deepen your connection to this amazing area of Mexico. You know, that’s not an easy feat but she did it with aplomb. But you know what above all else in this book will grip you and enchant you? (Omg i hope you have your credit card in your hand by now, seriously) It’s her writer’s voice which matches her real voice so uncannily, it’s like she’s really with you, bouncing from the pages in real time, excitedly demanding that you hug a tree or jump with her into a pile of leaves. You will fall in love with her voice: Inimitably ageless and childlike; timeless and impatiently curious and filled with bouts of laughter. It’s just as you might imagine what an ivy-league educated woman bouncing on a pogo stick might sound as she gives you a tour of the Yucatan, it’s wholly intelligent and fun and whacky. (Ok, now I have my credit card out again because I would pay to see that.) This book will undoubtedly wrap itself around your heart no matter what. And who doesn’t want authenticity, magic, and kind intelligence hugging our hearts? After all we’ve been through in the last year, we need safe travel alternatives. This book is a joyful remedy even if you stay home and just read it from your comfy couch. Open this book and let your freedom...Let it ring.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2021This book includes pronunciation assistance for the Mayan place names you will be visiting. It highlights the best beaches, cenotes, and archaeological sites to take your kids. It does a great job of giving pertinent information, like how difficult the cenote is to access so that you can plan accordingly. It also includes information on haciendas, natural spaces, caves, and inland cities and towns you can take your children, including Mérida and Valladolid. As a guidebook for families with children who wish to travel in Yucatán state, Yucatán with Kids: A Travel Guide is top-notch.
I received an advanced review copy from the author.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 14, 2022This is an amazing book if you are traveling with small children in the Yucatan! We spent 5 weeks with a home base in Merida practicing our Spanish, learning about Mayan culture, and exploring the state. We have a 4 and an 8 year old and this book was crucial for figuring out things like where to find playgrounds and play spaces in the city, first Cenotes to visit, climbable Mayan ruins, etc. I would highly recommend this to anyone spending time in the Yucatan with children and maybe even for those without kids.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 22, 2021Yucatan with Kids is just what I need to know what I'm doing while traveling in this part of Mexico. When you read most blogs or sites online, the information is geared toward adults. This Mexico guide book is written through the lens of a parent, and it includes helpful details critical for kids (like how steep the cenote steps are). The book is packed with helpful tips (like an FYI that some restaurants may give visitors the "cruise" menu geared toward people coming from cruise ships!). The guide of cenotes alone is worth the price of the book, but I especially loved the section on lesser known activities, such as exploring caves and visiting haciendas. If you're traveling to the Yucatan with kids, you 100% need this guide book.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2021I recently spent time in Chicxulub, Mexico and I didn't have this guide yet. I wish I'd had it before because my trip would have been so much better! The book is chock full of tips that no one else is going to tell you, plus Cassie takes it a step further and gets kids involved. You'll be reading their unscripted remarks about different areas you can visit in the state. In fact, that's exactly what sets this book apart from other guidebooks. It's well written and has so much useful information AND you get the perspective of kids about many of the sites included. Do yourself a favor and buy this guide now and then plan your trip. You'll thank yourself after your amazing trip to Yucatan (the state), Mexico!
- Reviewed in the United States on June 3, 2021This book is without a doubt one of the best resources available for traveling in the Yucatan, whether you have kids or you simply like to act like one! I've been living in Mexico for several years now and love heading to the Yucatan for vacations and this book is filled with tons of beaches that I've never even heard of. It's loaded with the best hidden gems that only locals know about and it's all written with a sense of humor and fun like you're getting advice from a friend (one who really knows her stuff).
- Reviewed in the United States on July 21, 2021What a wonderful find. Yucatan is such a great place to visit and this book really helps the local flare shine through. It is a wonderful guide to places and adventures that are little bit off of the beaten path. I had never been to Mexico before and this book was essential in guiding my kids and I through the Yucatan like a local on vacation rather than a tourist. An absolute MUST read!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book.
This is a lovely read.....a great addition to her last book. In this one Cassie Pearse writes about travelling round Yucatan with small children. She writes really entertainingly and uses information from her own children and others she knows. We don’t have little ones anymore, but if we did, we’d find this book really useful for holidays in Yucatan. We have both her books and feel as if we know a bit of her family life. Her children are incredibly lucky to be part of such an amazing family. Loved both books and I wonder if she’ll write anymore as I love her style.
