This may be the most valuable exercise I've done for my business: The Competition Map Here's how it works: Make a list of your 5 closest competitors. For each one, write down: 1. How they describe their target customers 2. The transformation they help those people make 3. The types of products they offer 4. Their price points Then, compare those to yours and analyze the overlap. The more overlap there is, the weaker your positioning. The less overlap there is, the stronger your positioning. Adjust accordingly. ---- I break down exactly how to do this and share what my Competition Map looks like in my Expert Positioner Skill Session. Become a Skill Sessions member to get it. And if you join this week... I'll throw in a free ad in my newsletter you can use to promote whatever you want to my 40,000 readers!
I’m curious who you see as your top competitors.
Understanding your competitors is crucial. Analyzing overlap helps refine positioning. Valuable exercise for business growth. Excited to explore this with a couple of different projects I'm involved with. As a new Skills Session member, I'll be jumping into this new one asao.
Already a happy Skills Session member... but this is great advice, Josh. Thanks for the quick and useful summary!

1yin the great tradition of perfectly simple exercises that will tell you more than an entire business book... thanks for this Josh. Took notes on this one back to my team. Which is a direct plug for skill session membership (worth every penny).
