From the course: Difficult Conversations: Talking about Race at Work

Talking about race at work

- So we're entering a time where race is at the height of human consciousness. And this is a great opportunity for us to start to make strides towards equity and inclusion. My motto is that the best things in life are on the other side of difficult conversations. Now, as it relates to difficult conversations about race, if we want to create a more inclusive environment and move towards equity, we're going to have to have these tough conversations. My name's Kwame Christian, I'm the Director of the American Negotiation Institute. And in this role, I conduct negotiation and conflict resolution trainings for companies. In the past, I also did some civil rights work. And so what we're doing with this course is we're blending the negotiation and conflict resolution skills with that civil rights background to create a course that helps you to have these difficult conversations about race. And the goal is to help you to avoid some common pitfalls, and also structure these conversations in a way that makes it more likely for you to get the outcome that you want.
