Navy SEAL K-9 handler Beau “Danger” Maddox is at the top of his game—until an op goes south, leaving him physically and mentally scarred. Separated from the Navy, he’s determined to requalify as operational and get back in the action so he can take down the deadly South American cartel that killed his team. The last thing he needs is a distraction in the form of a beautiful new neighbor and her dog…

Trafficking survivor Paisley Reyna became a trauma counselor to help others after a harrowing captivity at the hands of the notorious Guerrero Cartel. When she unexpectedly inherits her cousin’s home and retired military working dog, Riot, she seizes the chance to eke out a quiet life in a small town in Texas. However, the Dutch shepherd upends her plans, destroys her belongings, and repeatedly escapes next door to the intense former SEAL, who poses a threat to her peace—and maybe even her heart.

When the local sheriff asks for Danger’s expertise and Paisley’s dog to intercept a trafficking deal, they’re quickly caught up in a battle against the very cartel that marked both their souls. Along with a paramilitary team, they plunge deeper and deeper into the Venezuelan jungle—all too aware that making it out alive a second time will take nothing short of a miracle.

My Review

Riot
by Ronie Kendig, JJ Samie Myles
Book 3 in A Breed Apart Legacy series
Rating: 5/5

As a huge fan of the author, I am always excited to dive into another story. I love what Sunrise Publishing is doing and how they choose to partner with excellent authors like JJ Samie Myles. I was blown away at how quickly I was caught up in the story and the enemies-to-lovers trope. I loved all the action and suspense. The story moves quickly and I appreciated the look into survivors of trafficking. Faith is woven throughout the story and I loved Riot. All of these stories in this series have been amazing and such a fast read.

Highly recommend this fast-paced, action-packed Christian romantic suspense that will keep you reading until the end!

SMW never disappoints! I was excited to read the first book in this new series and was pleasantly surprised to recognize some of the characters from previous series. The world of SMW is thrilling and fast-paced with lots of action and suspense that will keep you reading until the end. She is a master storyteller who weaves romance and faith and laughter and authenticity into her books. The psychological and spiritual aspects that she addresses are always relevant and applicable to her readers. She writes with wisdom and understanding – not condemnation. Her characters are relatable and redeemable.

Author: Susan May Warren
Genre: Christian Romantic Comedy

Release Date: April 5, 2024

‘I need you,’ the tall, ridiculously good-looking missionary had declared, his words reverberating through the entire church. Wait—he wasn’t talking just to Josey? Oops, because suddenly she’s not in Gull Lake, Minnesota anymore. Instead, she’s found herself in Moscow, Russia, as a missionary for a whole year. Oy!

Really, she just wanted to escape her chaotic hometown, where her sister ran off and married her ex, and her heart still pines for Chase, ‘the one that got away.’ But life has a funny way of throwing snowballs, and now she’s in Russia, spreading the good word and navigating a land of vodka, fur hats, and passionate hearts.

As she immerses herself in the vibrant Russian culture, from haggling for fruit at the Moscow market to braving the icy weather, Chase’s memory lingers…and just when she starts to think she’s finally moving on, fate throws them back together. Will Josey take a chance on love and rekindle the flame with her hometown sweetheart, or will she embrace the allure of Russia, and a new love that sets her heart ablaze?

My Review

Everything’s Coming Up Josey
by Susan May Warren
Book 1 in the Josey series
Rating: 4/5

This was such a fun read by SMW. I loved the whole process of Josey becoming a missionary and as someone who has lived overseas, it was hilarious and realistic. The author brought to life Russia and living overseas in her usual way (especially since she has experience living in Russia). I found Josey to be endearing but also somewhat annoying at times (like a good sibling lol). The reader is still rooting for her and wants her to find love and succeed in her mission. I look forward to the next books in this series.

Highly recommend if you enjoy romantic comedies that aren’t afraid to have tender moments and incorporate faith.
