The Examined Life

The Examined Life

By Khe Hy

Here’s a scary fact about adulthood. We stop asking questions. We lose the playful curiosity and creativity that we had as children. And it’s a shame. Questions are gateways to our deepest desires, insecurities and dreams. Reflecting on a deep question takes us one step closer to a life well-lived. Each week, we’ll ponder and debate one of life’s thorniest questions. We’ll explore ambition, careers, money, relationships, productivity and psychology — all in the pursuit of living an Examined Life.

What makes money so emotional? [Joe Hudson]

We worry about money. When there’s not enough, we’re scared of the catastrophe. When there’s too much — there’s always someone with more. Could it be that our rational brains can’t fully grasp the emotional complexities of money? What if worry, anxiety and comparison are just representations of our unmet desires? [Episode 27]

Why did Khe leave Wall Street? [Solo]

Yes, I left a high-paying job. But I’ve never told the story about what motivated me, how I got promoted so quickly and how I deal with my money insecurities — as a kid and a grown-ass man.

This is a very detailed (solo) episode that shares for the first time:

- My Wall Street incomes

- Current and past spending

- Strategies I used to get promoted

- Changes in my net worth

- Childhood fears around safety

Rad Friends Trailer

Rad Friends Trailer

Here's a scary fact about adulthood.

No, I'm not talking about the hair loss, the wrinkles, or throwing at your back when you're shoveling some snow.

I'm talking about questions. Now. We know from kids, they're question asking machines, always wondering about the world, trying to put everything together.

But as an adult, that all stops.

And that has tremendous downstream effects. It impacts our happiness, it impacts our creativity. It impacts our ability to lead a well-lived life. And that's why we're starting the Rad Friends podcast.

Every week we will take a friend, an entrepreneur, an executive, a thinker, and we will ponder one of life's more complex questions.

We'll look at money, career productivity, our own psychology, our emotions, and our relationships to try to get towards some truth, some wisdom to find what it means to live a life of meaning and intention.

Some of the questions will be silly, like, is it okay to take a walk without headphones or should I teach my kids Mandarin? Others will be more profound. Like, how much money is enough money? Or why am I so afraid of being ordinary?

So dust off your question asking in philosophical thinking skills, and we hope you join us every week for the Rad Friends podcast.
