Art of Sequencing Training Yoga Teacher Training

AOSNovember2021.png

Do you want to discover the science behind holistic vinyasa yoga sequencing?

This virtual training starts November 5-8th, 2021

In this 4-day training, we’ll unpack peak yoga postures, do a deep dive into Lila Flow Yoga Wave Theory sequencing, discuss themes, explore subtle body practices, and examine how and why we aim to create balance in the muscle groups and nervous system in a yoga class.

This program features the history and practice of vinyasa yoga, specifically, Prana Vinyasa Flow pioneered by my teacher, Shiva Rea. This style of yoga embodies movement, chanting, music, and breath control to direct the life force/energy (Prana).

Early Bird Price: USD $250 if you register before October 12th

Price After October 12th is USD $350

↘What’s new in this training: ↙

This unique event includes a 2-hour LIVE YOGA CLASS with me for each day of the training.

Each LIVE yoga class is accompanied by an on-demand lecture that delves into the intricacies and technicalities of alignment, advanced and foundational postures, subtle body practices, and themes.

Participants will have the option to review and reflect on the lectures and additional on-demand content 2-weeks after the training ends to embody the material and techniques.

Who’s the host of this experience?

clararobertsoss.jpg

Hi, I’m Clara,

I’m a yoga teacher and trainer and founder of the Lila School of Vinyasa Yoga.

I’m super passionate about vinyasa yoga and have been teaching the Art of Sequencing for 15+ years. My goal is to assist teachers in developing a holistic approach to vinyasa yoga sequencing and show students the power of experiential movement practices.

What you’ll learn:

Robson_ClaraRoberts_0606_0004.jpg
  • Modifications and advanced variations of peak poses.

  • Holistic sequencing to build towards a peak pose/flow.

  • The six families of poses and how to balance targeted muscle groups.

  • The business of yoga: building an online platform, when/who to hire, how to manage a team

  • Subtle body practices to stimulate and ground the nervous system.

  • The importance of voice, language, and music in curating a class.

  • Modifications for injury, pregnancy, and yogis of all levels.

Who’s this training for?

Advanced students and yoga teachers looking to deepen their knowledge of vinyasa yoga and develop their practice.

▴ For teachers, this experience will help you create more memorable yoga classes as you develop a voice and vision for the structure and style of your vinyasa yoga sequencing.

We’ll go over technicalities concerning alignment, how to stabilize the corresponding muscle groups for your peak pose/flow, and how to create balance in the nervous system through pranayama (breath)

We’ll also cover how to select the right elements that contribute to and help communicate your theme. Yoga classes that are anchored in a theme can dramatically alter the overall feeling of the yoga class in the body and mind of students; how you sequence, speak, select music, position yourself and use props and space contribute to the Bhavana (mood) of the class.

▴ For advanced students, this is an opportunity to empower your practice; you’ll learn about peak poses, how to prepare the body for them and why we do specific postures at a given time, and lastly, how to modify for different body types. This experience gives students a guide to the vinyasa yoga practice, and how to align and adjust for what your body may need at any given time.

We will be sending out a What to Expect email two weeks prior to the training, including zoom links, information on how to access the Practice With Clara apps (for non-members), homework, and an invite to our private FB group.

Still Curious?

Watch this short video to get a better understanding of the training.

The knowledge I gained from Clara’s training was astronomical, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Working with Clara has greatly enhanced my ability to execute sequenced classes more professionally. These are the “how to’s” or the “teaching” that I took away including, the use of clear and concise language, the appropriate vocal tone for the Bhavna and time of the class, allowing for space and silence, pausing for breath, the timing of the sequence within the sequence, use of suitable rhythms or music, and much more! The knowledge I gained in this training aligns with my aspirations as a teacher and human being.

Here’s what students from the last training had to say:

Through wave theory, I now think about sequencing in a new way. I taught one of the classes today that I sequenced from the training and it made so much sense, I didn’t forget anything, and it felt amazing!!!
— AOS student, July 2021.
Clara’s knowledge and time offer so much more to the process of building a better, all-encompassing practice that weaves the anatomical, subtle body and your own intention clearly and concisely throughout your given sequence. Her creativity and reasoning are inspiring.
— AOS student, July 2021.
I feel, more confident in creating more effective sequences for myself and my fellow yogis who share the practice with me. I feel a deep transformation in my own practice and in the way of doing, creating, feeling asana, mantra and pranayama in my being. My edges have softened and my sequencing repertoire is greatly broadened. I never thought to sequence something like “shame” but that class really opened me up and I hope to offer similar classes to my students. The tip about feeling the emotion and detaching from it before teaching it is key. I feel the growth and I am open to more, as always! thank you so much.
— AOS student, July 2021.
It’s packed with knowledge and information, skillfully designed and delivered. I didn’t want to blink in case I miss something 😂
— AOS student, July 2021.
I really loved the concept and breakdown of wave theory for sequencing. It was concise and very clear, plus the interaction with fellow students and break-out rooms helped create a sense of support and kula. It was great to connect to others from around the globe that are also looking to evolve in their practice. I feel like sequencing makes much more sense now, not only as a teacher but as a student for my own home practice. Clara has given us the tools to be able to implement an effective synergy of asana, mantra, pranayama and mudras to create a well-rounded, all-encompassing class that supports a peak pose or theme throughout the practice.

Who is this program for?

The Art of Sequencing Vinyasa Yoga Training is for advanced yoga students (3+ consistent years of practice) looking to deepen their vinyasa yoga practice, as well as those of you who are hoping to teach vinyasa yoga as a professional yoga instructor.

Do you have to have completed a certain amount of hours before this training?

No, this training can be done separately from any yoga teacher training. For students who’ve completed a 200-hour or 300-hour YTT, you can use the Art of Sequencing toward 20 CE credits with Yoga Alliance. You can visit my teacher training page for additional information on advancing your studies with a 200-hour or 300-hour program.

What type of content will you learn in this program?

This 20-hour weekend training covers:

  • Wave Theory - vinyasa sequencing based on Shiva Rea’s Prana Vinyasa Flow.

  • How to create a Bhav (mood) for your class that weaves philosophy, mythology, and key themes into the experience.

  • Advanced asanas and sequencing with peak yoga poses and flows.

  • Practices for the subtle body including pranayamas (breathwork), kriyas (actions), mudras (gestures), mantras, and meditation.

  • How to build an online platform and presentation to grow a virtual community.

Does it cover the business aspects of teaching?

Yes! For the first time, the Art of Sequencing Training will delve into all you need to know to launch your yoga business online! This weekend training will cover how to teach yoga online, how to lead live yoga classes using different platforms such as Zoom and Uscreen, how to create on-demand yoga classes, the equipment, and software needed to launch, how to price your yoga classes,  how to accept payments from students, and much more!

How long does the training last?

The training is 20-hours in total over four days.

What will the schedule look like?

Students will take the pre-recorded 2-hour vinyasa yoga class at their leisure before the live session with Clara and the faculty. The live session will be on Zoom for 2.5 hours. The live session consists of a 2-hour lecture on the day's prerecorded vinyasa class, a 1-hour session of breakout rooms with your peers, and a 30-minute live Q&A with Clara to go over any final notes from that day.

The full schedule with exact times will be posted in July, two weeks before the training.

Can I do this certification program with a full-time job?

Yes. This program was designed for those with full-time jobs and commitments.

Is it all online?

Yes. Everything is online via pre-recorded material and live Zoom discussions.

What hardware and software are needed to participate?

  • A webcam or smartphone with a camera

  • A decent internet connection

  • Zoom downloaded to your device

  • The Practice with Clara App downloaded to your device

Can you provide me with proof of tuition payment for my own business or tax purposes?

Yes. If you are already a yoga teacher or in a profession where yoga certification could enhance your business (aka a massage practitioner, nutritionist, or something similar), your tuition could be tax-deductible.

Is there help in finding your voice and own personal style?

Yes! This course is tailored to help teachers discover their unique voices to create classes that resonate with students. All students in training will be encouraged to choose elements and themes they find inspiring to create class sequences. The purpose is to find what lights you up and bring it into your class to offer to your students.

Is the Art of Sequencing Training recognized by Yoga Alliance, even if it’s online?

YES! On September 25, 2020, Yoga Alliance confirmed it is now approving all online registrations until the end of 2021. This means that if if you register for the July 2021 Art of Sequencing Training, you will receive Yoga Alliance Approved Certification for the 20 CE credits.

Yoga Alliance understands that with the changing landscape due to COVID< in-person events are no longer possible. Institutions and schools worldwide are petitioning Yoga Alliance to change their mandates to approve online programming to make courses accessible to students worldwide.

Is this training just for teachers?

Not in the least! Students who have been consistently practicing yoga for 3+ years who are interested in deepening their practice, understanding, and application of vinyasa yoga are welcome to take the 4-day weekend training. This course is meant for those who want to dive deep into Lila Flow Yoga Wave Theory and weave unique themes and elements into their classes. Students who do not teach will have the opportunity to learn about yoga asana and the subtle body and spend four days developing their practice with peak postures and vinyasa flows.

Is this training open to beginners?

New teachers are welcome, but this program is not recommended for beginner students.

If I am pregnant, can I take this program?

Yes. I’ve taught many classes, workshops, retreats, and training with pregnant yogis present. The biggest thing is to listen to your body, rest when necessary, and modify the poses as you need. I have a video, Modifications for Pregnancy, on Practice with Clara as a resource.

If I’m a teacher, what style of yoga will I be certified under?

You will receive a certification in vinyasa yoga from my school, Lila School of Vinyasa Yoga.

Will I receive a yoga teacher training certificate after completing this training?

Yes, if you pay the additional $75, you will receive a CE (Continuing Education) certificate that you can submit to Yoga Alliance.

Will my teaching certificate be recognized globally?

Yes! Our school is Yoga Alliance recognized.

Are there any live sessions in the program?

Yes, the lecture, breakout rooms, and Q&A are all live and hosted via Zoom. The 2-hour vinyasa classes are on-demand and will be hosted on my site Practice with Clara for you to get a feel for how to create on-demand content. I will go over how to host live and on-demand classes during the training.

Do I require an internet connection while taking the program, or can I view lectures offline?

Yes, you will require a reliable internet connection as the entire program is web-based. You will also need the most up-to-date version of the Google Chrome browser. Our programming is most compatible with this browser.

If the 2-hour vinyasa classes are on-demand, what opportunities are there for faculty support and interaction with other students?

The classes are hosted on Practice with Clara, and all participants receive a 3-month membership with the training.
These classes are exclusive to the training members and will be labelled by date as the lecture in the afternoon will be on the specified 2-hour class of that day.

The day’s lecture, breakout rooms, and Q&A will all be themed for the LIVE yoga class, so students are encouraged to take the class before the lecture to get the most out of the experiences.

  • The program has a LIVE Q&A with Clara, where students engage with one another and faculty throughout the program.

  • We also have a private FB Group for students and faculty to engage and ask questions before, during, and after the training experience.
