Flashpoint (Chasing Fire: Montana Book 1) Kindle Edition
THIS TIME, THEY'RE NOT JUST FIGHTING FIRE.
An original series created by bestselling authors Susan May Warren and Lisa Phillips.
The Hollywood heartthrob and the firefighter with a secret…
Rookie firefighter Emily Micah is determined to prove herself as a new recruit to the elite Jude County Hotshots wildfire team. Assigned to the film set of The Drifters, Emily's mission is to protect the cast and crew from the special effects that could ignite the tinder-dry Montana forest and start a wildfire.
If only her favorite actor—TV star Spenser Storm—wasn’t getting in her way.
What could go wrong?
Haunted by the memory of a rabid stalker, former child TV star Spenser Storm is hoping to revive his career, but he’s torn between the glitz and glamour of Hollywood and the life of a cowboy on his family’s ranch in Montana. It doesn’t help when he sees the movie that’s supposed to launch his future is going up in flames.
And then there’s beautiful and brave Emily Micah, who not only saves his life, but seems to understand him, maybe better than she should.
As an arsonist threatens the film production, seemingly with the goal of destroying the movie entirely, Spenser realizes he'll stop at nothing to protect his future and the woman now stealing his heart.
But Emily harbors a secret…one that could destroy the flame between them. And when it comes out, it could cost them everything, and ignite an inferno that could destroy all of the northern Montana forest.

Although I attended the U of Minnesota, I’m a woodsy girl at heart. Or maybe I’m an adventurer—having lived and traveled all over the world, including Siberia, Russia as a missionary for eight years. That’s why my characters seem to get into one scrape after another—they’re too much like me! I love God, my family, my country, my church, and feel privileged every day to be able to write stories.
And my 'official' bio:
With nearly 2 million books sold, critically acclaimed novelist Susan May Warren is the Christy, RITA, and Carol award-winning author of over ninety novels. Known for her compelling plots and unforgettable characters, Susan has penned contemporary and historical romances, romantic suspense, thrillers, rom-coms, and Christmas novellas. With books translated into eight languages, she's a USA Today, ECPA and CBA bestseller, and has received numerous starred Publisher Weekly reviews. Library Journal says, "Warren’s characters are well-developed and she knows how to create a first rate contemporary romance.”

- Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2025“ Inspirational, romantic suspense” is the official category, but doesn’t touch all that’s really in this book. The characters are flawed like most of us. They’re all searching for meaning and how to get through difficulties. Even with their shared faith, these characters are not perfect. They fail, they fall, they get back up again. The happily ever after ending was nice too!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 26, 2025Spenser was a child star, and had a bad experience with a stalker. He is now trying to get back into acting. Emily is in charge of keeping everyone safe during the special effects scenes in the movie. When Spenser and Emily start spending more time together, there are sparks. A good story with intrigue and interesting plot twists that keep you reading.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2025This book was enjoyable from start to finish, although it ended too quickly as I enjoyed the ups and downs that Spencer and Emily faced.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 31, 2024You will love this book. The characters are real and vulnerable. We all have fears we struggle with, the main characters learn to face their fears and develop faith. They learn to trust God in the difficult circumstances. Suspense, adventure, and romance, a great read. You will love this book!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2025Two of my favorite authors collaborate! I have died and gone to book heaven!! There is more than one fire burning in this story. I appreciate the clean, but hot romance, the thrills, and the human experience.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2025This was a good start to the book, but it felt rushed at the end. It seemed a little too melodramatic. I still think Warren and Phillips (which I enjoy reading) need to work on developing relationship. Yes, I’m serious. I’m picky. I don’t want suspense at the cost of a well founded relationship. This one felt too rushed at the end. Sometimes I wonder if the rush to write means we get a good book instead of their best well thought out longer book that has spiritual depth, relationship and suspense. The relationship often seems rushed or in some of Phillips books barely there.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 18, 2024This story was fun! Loved the hero and heroine. Lots of excitement and the bad guy is hidden so well that you'll never guess who it is! That's funny parts and scary ones. I give it a 7 out of 10. Why? Because it ended too soon!
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2024What a rollercoaster of a ride this tale turned out to be. Two people with very tragic childhoods, meeting as young people and then finding themselves together once again on the set of a movie. The scrapes that Emily gets into on the set and also when with Spencer are nail biting for sure. Just try and figure out the bad guy or girl on set! Well written and fast paced and reads like a good mystery you want to curl up with. Spencer was a real cutie and even nicer on the inside. I found their faith in a higher power to be quite refreshing.

Fast paced opening book to the series! Has all the hallmarks of a Susie May book- faith, action, a bit of intrigue and of course romance!! I’m excited to read the rest of the series.
