More LinkedIn changes announced 📣 and my TWO CENTS 💰 of advice: ✅ Creator mode will be the default for everyone. This means no more toggling on and off. No more having to decide if you will give up your Connect button option (vs Follow) to get the creator features. This is good news 🎉 for emerging and beginner creators. Look over the features and plan to try a creator feature in 2024. ✅ "Talks about" hashtags #️⃣ will be gone. Less emphasis on hashtags, so this is unfortunate in my view. ✅ Your About essay will be rising higher 📈 on the profile. Your About essay is now more important than ever. Take the time to refresh it regularly. More people will be reading it. Make it work for you in 2024. ✅ Now is a very good time to think through if you wish to have the Connect or Follow button as your personal call to action (CTA). If you are newer or in the process of building up a strategic network, use the Connect button. However, if you are an active creator then consider displaying the Follow button. What are YOU going to do about these changes now? #Linkedin #linkedinfeatures #2024 --------------------- Sandra Long Post Road Consulting: LinkedIn and Social Selling Training

As soon as I got the email from LinkedIn about these changes in Creator Mode, I thought Sandra Long will be the one to give us some solid advice about these changes. Like you, I'm disappointed about the removal of the "talks about" hashtags, as I've found them to be a helpful compliment to the profile headline and provide LinkedIn users a way to use very specific terms to increase the chance of being found on LinkedIn. Without this option, users need to find ways to weave at least some of this information into their LinkedIn profile headline, as well as into their About section. I also agree with you that the About Essay is more important that ever and certainly needs to be reviewed and refreshed on a regular basis. The one downside I had found of Creator mode was that everyone who turned it on was forced into having the "Follow" vs. the "Connect" button. Not everyone was able to realize that when you saw the Follow button, you could click on the "More" button and find the option to ask the person to connect with you. So, it's good that folks have the choice now between "Follow" and "Connect."

The emphasis on the ABOUT section should be impactful and significant. So many people do not understand that 20+ years ago - this was created in effect to act as your COVER LETTER that you sent with your resume to summarize your professional and academic career! Today, you can click the "AI BUTTON" and have the AI write it for you. I suggest people try it. I encourage people to always write the ABOUT section in 1st person (never 3rd person) and you have 2,600 characters - about a full page of WORD text. Write the ABOUT in WORD and spell and grammar check it - then copy and paste into ABOUT. UPDATE the ABOUT section annually. In fact many people start the ABOUT section with something like - "My focus for 2024 is...." and lets people know about your goals and objectives! Try it!

Sandra I did a post about these LI changes yesterday. I'm not sure what to think about having the About section at the top of our profiles. I wish LI would ask me to be a part of their product roadmap user group. There's more impactful things I'd suggest to LI 's development team to do ahead of moving the About section higher on our profiles. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/manufacturingmaven_its-not-often-i-get-an-update-notice-from-activity-7159208349048131584-jOAP?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop

What a smart LinkedIn move to gently push users to add value completing their 'About' section. I have no idea of the percentage of LI users who added content to this area my guess: less than 1/3. And if we did so, we often neglect it awfully. I will definitely advise people to get started with it or update it and give them a hand (if they wish so). I agree what you said about the Hashtags - they are so smart to get a quick idea about the core topics of an individual, usually they are also reflected in the 'skills' area. So maybe, this helps to make profile visitors scroll down (might be wichful thinking).

there’s some good news here, thanks Sandra. Anything that simplifies navigating the platform is a good thing, so good to hear about the Creator change. Also, love to hear the about section is moving up, because really, that is what is the special sauce, IMO, about this platform. Wondering if you can share whatever’s going on with these notifications popping up on my phone of live events happening? They usually include a header “Happening Now.” So far all of these notifications are of no interest to me and I’m guessing one can turn them off in the back. They do seem new in the last few months so I’d like to hear what you know about them. Thank you!

I can always count on you, Sandra Long , to summarize these changes and their impact. I love that the About narrative section will be in a more dominant location. I feel like I learn so much more about prospects and potential collaborators when they take time to share more of themselves. Hopefully this move will inspire more to take it seriously and realize the impact and power of this LI tool.

Super, concise summary of what these changes will mean, great job Sandra. I will also miss the 'talks about' hashtags as they always give a concise indication of the topics someone is focusing on, and were right at the top of the profile to let you judge whether a follow or a connection was worthwhile.

Hi Sandra, thanks a lot for this recap, I have not received yet the email from the Boss 🙏😁. I Think I will continue with the Follow Button (as current Creator style) I am sorry for Hashtags decadence as well. Now in Italy is Sunday morning, I rush to review and update my About Section! Should I add that as Tennis Player I am crazy for Sinner 🎾👏?
