I don’t know what I was worried about. My fist time trying improv was a hilarious 😂 blast PLUS loaded with great professional learning ( and reinforcement of things I knew). We had our class in Boston with the NSA New England group. Amazing and fun people. I was also happy to meet some new folks too. Here are a few of the key takeaways ✅ Things can (and will) go wrong - so just keep going ✅ So what if something goes wrong - use it as an opportunity ( get to know your audience better for example) ✅ Don’t assume things. The limiting beliefs are in our heads and can hold us back. Think bigger ✅ Teamwork is always the key to a better outcome ✅ Accept each other. Listen! ✅ Stay positive 😀 I recommend improv for all professional speakers AND those who want to communicate better. What did I miss? Have you tried it? Also big thank you to Pam Garramone, M.Ed. for arranging and to Kyle Sadewhite for coming to Boston - both of you are awesome! #speaker #NSA #Boston ————————- Sandra Long
Absolutely LOVED every minute of our NSA New England afternoon and evening! Zip- Zap -Zop! ☀️
So much fun! Thank you to Courtney Pong for being an amazing trainer and performer and Rozzie Theater for hosting us. My biggest takeaway is that mistakes are funny! : ) Great group of people to learn and laugh with on a Saturday! : )
So great to meet you in person Sandra Long What a FUN afternoon! I met some fabulous people and learned a ton! Listen to respond was one of my favorites and I have been practicing it!!
Agreed Sandra Long. I absolutely loved the event! It was great meeting everyone and having such a fun time. Who knew I would end up on the ground (all in good fun)?! My main takeaway? How our limiting beliefs can hold us back, but thinking bigger opens up endless possibilities. Can't wait to apply these lessons in my own speaking career.
Looks like it was a fun time and as indicated by the comments, "a good time was had by all" Next time!
This was such a great day Sandra Long! Thank you Pam Garramone, M.Ed. for organizing it. Even though I knew (and teach) this, I couldn't believe the exercise that showed how much we constrain our thinking and creativity. So much to inspire and reflect on!
So many parallels between Improv and Sales - and building relationships! Did you get into "Yes and...?"
Improv is a great teaching and learning tool. As a singer/songwriter, I studied with Kim Schultz of Second City. My take-away was how to say “yes, and…” to anything. Congrats on your growth experience, and earning “Mind Money,” in my book.
Glad you enjoyed it! Improv is awesome! #theatrenerd

1ySandra: Sounds like fun. 😊 Every great conversation is filled with improv; listening and building on what the other person said. It is what opens up new possiblities! Although improv can take us out of our comfort zone, it is great way to move a conversation and the relationship to the next level.
