10 Awesome Places to Add Links to Your LinkedIn Profile
People who are interested in us tend to visit our social profiles looking for more insights. Including links allows users to easily discover a website, view images, read articles, subscribe to a newsletter, and more. LinkedIn delivers fantastic results connecting users to content. For example, "LinkedIn is now responsible for a staggering 64% of all visits from social media channels to corporate websites" (Econsultancy).
On LinkedIn, your personal goal should be to engage, connect, and build relationships which ultimately draws users to your profile to learn more about you! Once they are there, LinkedIn offers a broad range of options to add links and media to your profile. Today there are 10 different ways!
Let's take a closer look at all ten:
👉 Contact Info Section – You may add up to three websites in your contact section. Over the years, I have found this section to be missed by around 40% of users. This is my unofficial estimate. Let’s say I am interested in working with you. I want to contact you and check out your web links and I can’t find them! This is an easy fix for you right now.
👉 About Section – This one is fairly new. Add a web link and your email address to your About essay section. This link is live from the mobile app now. Considering that over 50 % of LinkedIn users are accessing the site from their mobile phones, I hope you will try this one.
👉 Featured Content – This is truly my favorite place to add valuable links. Yes, you can feature your native posts or articles. You can also include links to your website, YouTube video, special event, webinar, or unique landing page. In addition to the general link benefit, this featured section really jazzes up your profile with a visual spark.
👉 Experience – Consider adding a relevant link to media that is associated with each work experience. Make this profile section come to life for your viewers.
👉 Education – You can also add a link under your education section. Perhaps you wish to highlight a special school project or activity’s landing page here. Even though I graduated quite a while ago, I added a link to my school.
👉 Licenses and Certifications – For each of your certifications or licenses, you may add a link to that credential. This is optional but nice if it applies to you.
👉 Projects – You have a lot of latitude with the projects section. This can highlight past or current projects. You name it and include a description and link. Nice. Think of all the ways this section can be used?
👉 Publications – Have you written something or been quoted in a publication? Consider adding those publications. Be sure to provide a clear description and link. Check out my profile for several examples of how to use the Publications section. PROFILE
👉 Patents – Congrats if you have a patent! Feel free to add the name, description, and a link to your LinkedIn profile. That link will help those viewers who are really interested in learning more about your patent.
👉 Introduction Card - The very newest link feature on our LinkedIn profile! You can now add your clickable link in the very top part of your profile. I plan to use this dynamically and change out my link depending on what I am doing – like my background banner. Here is how this looks now for me, and here is the link to my recent video post which explains it all.
OK Now, it's your turn.....What links are YOU using on your profile now? What will you add?
