Here's my newest newsletter article about content mistakes - ALL OF WHICH I have made myself at some point! What can you add to this list? #linkedin #content #thoughtleadership #SalesBySandra
Such a superb article in so many ways. You have such a wonderful knack, Sandra Long, for getting right to the point in everything you write and providing easy to apply recommendations. The line that jumped out to me was "You should comment on other people’s posts at least 80% more than you post your own content." I especially appreciated that you put 80% instead of something more general: "engage more than you post." I do my best to follow this particular recommendation, and I'll be gauging the percentage better going forward.
That is a great, solid piece of information, Sandra Long. Thank you 😊 I appreciate, in particular, your #8. I would add: "Vary the formats of your posts" 😎
Sandra Long, again, this is such a powerful read. I resisted diving into it initially because I was SURE I was making mistakes. Confirmed. LOL, But not as bad as I thought. I'm a serial over-poster, and I admit it. I may even buy the t-shirt :-) Thanks for sharing your insight with the rest of us.
Indeed a good list of mistakes. Now the only one I am not that convinced about is the hijacking one that provided you the content you refer to adds value to the original post and does not focus on selling anything. Of course, you can not do this frequently.
Guilty! Great list- thanks 🙏
Thanks so much for this article on LinkedIn content mistakes, Sandra Long . I'm trying to Not pay attention to what the LinkedIn algorithm may or may not be doing today, and instead focus on my message and adding value to my network and beyond. Thank you for always adding value and hope your new New England surrounds are wonderful for you and your family! 🌅
Lots of wisdom - thank you. Everyone who gets into a habit of making these mistakes should heed your advice.
Great tips. How do you feel about people using their personal hashtags in their comments? It often seems like a variation of #8 to me.
Following your point 1 by posting this comment 🤣 Great post, Sandra Long

1ySandra this is a must read - or maybe a required checklist - for anyone posting content to review before pressing Publish. People have such a desire to find relevant, honest content online. That’s why we all scroll so frequently and emphatically. We (I) want to find well written content that matters to me for whatever reason. What is sure to do that is something that checks all those boxes you list. Ultimately, it needs to be straightforward, honest, compelling and written in a way that pulls the reader in. That’s either with heart or facts - or a combination of both. Your list should be bookmarked. PS People should kick No. 10 to the curb. Just do it. Try it. Worse case is you decide to delete it. Go fo it.
