Do you have a network 🔗 of previous co-workers? If so, you are indeed fortunate. ☘️ I love reconnecting and sharing stories with alums from Pitney Bowes. Yesterday, I got the chance to spend time with the amazing Mike Pitcher who is a board chair, author, and keynote speaker. Our conversation was a blast and we touched upon: ✅ The joy of speaking to audiences ✅ Our roots 🌳 in sales. Yup, this is where we both started and where we feel at home. ✅ Our books. 📕.... which we will be sharing with each other. I will be sure to post about Mike's book soon ✅ LinkedIn, of course. We both love LinkedIn and experienced professional advantages from the platform. ✅ Women in the workplace. I am so impressed with Mike's commitment to this! ✅ Family ❤️ and feeling blessed Thank you MIKE for a terrific time yesterday and I look forward to staying connected. What about YOU? Do you keep up with previous co-workers? Let me know your story! #network # #thankyou #linkedin Sandra Long
Two of my favorite co-workers! Sandra helped me out just the other day and I learned a ton from Mike about leasing many years ago. So great to see you both. It is great to have a wonderful network of people out there that we can connect with who were colleagues and now friends. Thanks for posting and the great reminder to reach out Sandra!
Sandra Long - the pleasure was mutual. What a great time, and the hour flew by in a flash. So many fond memories of our Pitney Bowes days with so many great people. I look forward to reading your book, and after I hit post, I am heading out to send you mine. I'd also like to thank you for sharing some of your insights on the power of LInkedIn. I find it amazing that we have the ability to build meaning and mutually beneficial relationships with people around the world. Thanks again!!!
Reaching out to former colleagues is a great way for leaders to strengthen their networks, especially if they are new to it! Thanks for the reminder Sandra Long.
When I started my career it never occurred to me how important the relationships I built in business would mean to me over time. As years passed the list of intelligent, supportive, warm and wonderful work friends multiplied. It is among the top spoils of working. I feel very fortunate. With intention, I have made a point if actively staying connected to or many times reaching back and reconnecting to people with whom I shared great (and sometimes not so great!) work experiences. For all the years I’ve dedicated to my career, it’s these relationships that have come to mean the most.
Sandra, I agree that it is always great to catch up with old friends and colleagues. 👍😃 The best part is that when you reconnect and have a great conversation, it is like it was yesterday. The “specialness” of friendships.
It is really nice connecting with co-workers that I forgot about. thanks for the share.
Hi Shawn! Hope you’re doing well!

2yNetworking to “give” versus “gain.” The “gain” will come organically. To quote you Sandra Long - “be a friend first.” For me personally, remaining “in touch” with former colleagues, clients and students has built a network of support. Collect people” (as long as they are good people!☀️) is a mantra I have shared since my Tufts University years! And back then we had an address book for phone numbers and addresses!
