LinkedIn Profile Security and Verification is improving. I realize that Twitter is really in the news 🗞 a lot for this, but LinkedIn is quietly making some big moves 💪 in the right direction. We need to take profile security seriously. The problem is that fake profiles lead to fraud and manipulation. First, LinkedIn introduced work email 📧 verification and "About this Profile," which is located on your Introduction Card (top of the profile). Actually, the email verification can be found within the "About this Profile" section. The work email feature is only available for certain companies right now. Your email domain needs to match your company. The "About this Profile" isn't ONLY for the work email verification.... it also gives us all a glimpse into how long a user has been on the platform; and when the contact info and photo 👩⚕️ were updated. I may not want to connect with someone who joined LinkedIn last Friday. Now we have TWO more validation types coming. One is called Workplace Verification and this is available for certain customers of Microsoft enterprise programs. The second one is ID verification, which is for LinkedIn members in the USA 🇺🇸 first. LinkedIn is partnering with Clear to do the validation. You will need to upload your government-issued ID. Your profile will show that you are verified, but will not share your info from the ID. Here is a screenshot that I got from LinkedIn's announcement. I recommend verifying your profile in as many ways as possible. LinkedIn isn't charging for this ID verification feature, unlike Twitter and Meta. Nice job LinkedIn! Now I am wondering if YOU will sign up for this? Why or why not? #linkedin #work #security #microsoft -------------------------------- Sandra Long Post Road Consulting: LinkedIn and Social Selling Training
This is a great move by LinkedIn. Being able to confirm a user’s credentials is arguably more important than with other social networks. As a professional business network, it’s important to know if the person you’re talking to really does work for the company they claim to represent. With so many fake profiles this is a positive move to weald these out.
Thanks for letting us know about these new LinkedIn security enhancements. I'm going to look into it for my profile also. Great post, thank you!
Yes, I will sign up. I'm so discouraged by fake social media across the board (text, email, phone, FB...) Your identity is the most important thing you have. I used to think that having a unique name like Star Dargin, (the only one in the Google world) made me easy to find and hard to scam. Not true! Great move, great info. Thank YOU :)
I have my ID Verification on my profile Sandra Long and it took less than 2 minutes to set up. Highly recommend to all in the US to get this done. #KeepRockingLinkedIn! Kevin On a Mission to Eliminate Organizational & Personal Blanding™
This is great news. I see it has huge value for those of us who do business on LinkedIn and linking up with Clear is a clear indication of the platform's commitment to security. With all the fraud and deep fakes in the news, LinkedIn Members should verify their profiles - and check others' profiles - in as many ways as possible, given the potential risks of scams and manipulation. Thanks for sharing!
Way to go LinkedIn!! 👍
Thank you Sandra Long. You sharing makes navigating LinkedIn easier for everyone following you. Blessings!
Thanks for the updates Sandra Long. These sound like good ideas to increase security!
Thanks for the updates Sandra. Of course I support the idea of profile verification, but I don’t know if I would want to do it with a government issued document. Too many times companies have been hacked and IDs stolen from servers - although they were deemed to be very secure.

1yThanks for always keeping us in the loop, Sandra! Yes, greater verification would definitely be helpful. I receive at least five or more SPAM or fake profile invites a day (primarily "lead generation" offers), and wish these could be automatically intercepted and blocked by LinkedIn.
