Pineapple Sweet Potatoes with Pecan Crumble

Ingredients (Potatoes)

1 can (20 oz.) Del Monte Canned Pineapple

3 cans (29 oz. each) Princella Cut Sweet Potatoes in Light Syrup, drained

1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar

1/3 cup butter, cut into small pieces

1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Ingredients (Crumble)

3/4 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup chopped pecans

2/3 cup uncooked quick oats

1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar

1/2 cup vegetable oil

1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Salt, optional

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Drain pineapple, reserving 1/3 cup juice.

2. For Potatoes, stir together pineapple, reserved juice, sweet potatoes, sugar, butter and cinnamon in a large bowl; place in a 13x9-inch baking dish coated with non-stick cooking spray. Cover and bake 35 minutes.

3. Stir together all Crumble ingredients and sprinkle evenly over sweet potato mixture.

4. Bake, uncovered, 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender and crumble is golden brown.

Cans always dented, food safety issue!
I had these on auto-order because we use them regularly in our bakery and it *looks* like a good price. Except it's not when you have to throw out several cans from every case because they have severe dents. I'm not sure if these are rejects and thus the good price, or if they just somehow get dented in transit. Every. Single. Time. Mind you, I have bought these 19 times (yes, shame on me for not canceling sooner), and every time there was at least one can that was badly enough dented that I was concerned about botulism.

    This is inedible. The pineapple is extremely hard, apparently unripe. It's like trying to eat the core. It's not just one can, it's all the cans. The only thing we got out of it was the juice, but it would have been better and cheaper just to buy a can of juice. What a waste of money. Unfortunately, Delmonte, like many other manufacturers have followed the COVID low quality, we can get away with anything model that became the norm during the plandemic. They don't care about the consumer or the quality of their product, or customer service because they can just do what they want and still make money. I spent more to get a name brand, because we found that the store WM brand had hard pieces of pineapple. But no, they're all the same. We won't be wasting any more money on pineapple, and certainly won't buy this brand again. I did find one use for it and that was giving it to the wildlife. Raccoons will it eat it, so I didn't have to throw it completely out.
