There are gluten free substitutions, and then there are things that are just better and happen to be gluten free. This is one of those better things. I like this soy sauce (tamari) better than any other. My daughter is very sensitive to gluten. That's how we discovered this product. When we use it to marinade our teriyaki chicken, it's so much better than the big brand of soy sauce. Even the low-sodium soy sauces are too salty. Tamari is naturally gluten free and has less of that sharp salty taste. It's more full bodied and has a good flavor all around. It's more expensive, but this was the most cost effective way I've found to purchase it.

The Sato family established San-Jirushi in Mie, Japan, as a Tamari soy sauce and miso company. The three river design of their logo came from the three rivers in the area that they used for their cargo-vessels when they were a wholesaler in port.

San-Jirushi established San-J to begin selling their Tamari soy sauce in the US as an importer and their products were very well accepted in the market.

1987
The San-J plant was built in Henrico, Virginia. It was the first Tamari brewing facility built in the U.S.
Then in 2019, the first stage of the plant expansion was completed to meet increasing demand of San-J products.

Takashi Sato, an eighth generation member of the founding family, is president of San-J, continuing the exacting standards for brewing the world’s finest Tamari Soy Sauce and Asian-inspired fermented foods.

I got my order in one whole piece! Not damaged in shipping!
I love this product, and I kept the whole bottle that wasn’t broken, the problem is, I thought I’d buy myself a gift of extra had a good bargain, only to have it show up with the bottle opened somehow inside a rapper and flowing through the top of the bottle. Problem with a large bottle is it’s not eligible for return so that’s going to make me think twice about buying any food item especially anything that’s liquid. Oh by the way don’t get clumping cat litter either,
