Pearce's fifth Millers of Morgan Valley romance (after The Rancher Meets His Match) offers a thin second-chance love story that kicks off when Faith McDonald returns to Morgan Valley after 17 years away. She's there to take over her family's veterinary clinic, but she's unsurprised by the chilly reception she gets from the townsfolk, most of whom still hold a grudge against her for abandoning her high school boyfriend, rancher Danny Miller. It's true that Danny was shattered when Faith left, but he's the only one besides Faith who knows the melodramatic secret that led to her departure. Now an outbreak of scours among the cattle force the pair to work together to control the damage to the town. The task gives them the chance to come to terms with their past—and realize the extent of their parents' meddling back in the day. Replete with nosy neighbors, deceptive family members, and a slew of misunderstandings, the novel's not short on drama, but Pearce spends more time explicating Faith and Danny's past relationship than exploring what they mean to one another now, making it difficult to root for their reunion. The choppy flow and lack of romantic focus make this one to skip.

Read as part of series or standalone.
Interesting read. The story is of long lost love and if after 17 years will Faith and Danny reconnect. Faith comes home after 17 years to help her brother take over their father’s veterinarian office. Living in a small town of course she runs into her 1st love rancher Danny Miller. The whole town is giving Faith the cold shoulder and good guy Danny tries to change their minds. The two are thrown together when the calves at the Miller’s ranch come down with a unknown ailment. Two have died and a neighboring rancher has the same problems. I found the ranch life interesting, really gives you to inside what a hard life ranching it is. The mystery of the origin of the infectious disease wasn’t hard to figure out. It did drag on in the story before Faith and Danny figured it out. Of course the two had their own past history to work through and the Miller’s are all back for Daisy’s wedding. Helps if you read the previous books, but can be a standalone.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and I also purchased a copy as I loved it and wanted to help support a favorite author.
First thing about this book that as it is a part of a series of the Miller siblings of Morgan Valley, it can be read as a stand-alone. That being said, I would highly recommend reading the series especially if you adore cowboys finding their true love. This book, along with the series, is very well written. The plot flows beautifully to the point that I felt like I was right there with them. I loved that prior characters also made multiple appearances so I was able to revisit "old friends".
This tale of a second chance with a first love that did not disappoint. I heart broke for these two. I loved how the author kept the lines of communication open but just enough so the characters came across as more mature (since they were both 34) and not childish.
This book is written in a dual POV format. Getting that glimpse into a character's thoughts during a scene, really helps me to connect with them better. I can really identify and enjoy the story so much better that way.
This is a sexy read with a small scene between the two main characters. Also I applaud the author of introducing to a small degree Faith's brother's love of someone that may offend some. BUT she did it in a way that they only danced and embraced. That being said I would highly recommend this wonderful story to anyone OVER the age of 18.
